Chapter Six
A Good Character
R omans 11:29 says, “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” (kjv ), meaning a person can operate in their gift with some character flaws and still effect people lives. But is that good enough for God’s people? How can we be satisfied with operating on just the residue of God’s glory? How can we be OK with a dullness of sight when operating in the seer realm? We need to be operating in the full measure of God’s glory, brilliant, accurate, on point, and full of God’s love and righteousness in order to be truly effective against the kingdom of darkness.
It is a dangerous game to try to walk in the gifts of God without purity and integrity, trying to see how close we can get to a line before we cross it. Yet every day we see people more and more willing to live sin-filled lives and play Russian roulette with their spiritual lives. Having a good and upright character has been greatly underplayed and undervalued in this day and age, but God will not endure it for long. Too many lives are at stake.
As we get into this discussion about coupling our gift with strong character, let’s first define what character is. Character is the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. These qualities or attributes are key to our ability to shift levels in God and are directly related to degree of gifts that God will release to us.
When I think of character I have to look to the Book of Daniel. When I was coming up in my younger years there were two books of the Bible I spent a lot of time studying. One was the book of 1 Samuel, and the other was of course was Daniel.
I truly believe that the Book of Daniel is a prophet’s greatest book. Daniel’s character and relationship with God is one that should be studied and followed for those of us who want to walk in true accuracy in the prophetic realm. We often neglect the importance of character and relationship with God when dealing with the release of revelatory gifts. Let’s explore revelatory gifts and how the state of our characters connects to the degree of power in which we walk in the seer realm.
God Rewards the Faithful Ones with Gifts
Revelatory gifts can be found in 1 Corinthians 12:8–10. They are:
Word of knowledge—supernatural revelation as to a piece of knowledge that would be naturally unknown to the recipient
Word of wisdom—supernatural impartation of wisdom beyond the natural wisdom of the recipient
Discerning of spirits—a God-given ability to distinguish the spirit motivating or controlling a person or event
